Mindfulness is an ancient technique, which began with the Buddha. Mindfulness is both a technique which is very helpful to me personally, which betters my life and is an important source of techniques which directly benefit the clients whom I counsel. I am indebted to the ancients practitioners who practiced, perfected and celebrated mindfulness, so that we have this wisdom to use today; in this regard I am also indebted to the work of people such as Jon Kabat-Zinn and Thich Nhat Hanh, who both have made mindfulness techniques available to me.
Mindfulness has taught me that life is best lived through intent-full embrace of struggle and challenge, as opposed to avoidance of such.

- Mindfulness is of phenomenal guidance in my life. The philosophical stance of mindfulness, of being purposefully non-judgemental and embracing genuine curiosity, is of great benefit to my life, both personally and professionally.
- Working with the ‘here and now’ during my counselling sessions with clients is helpful in my counselling work.
- From my professional experience, I have had the privilege of seeing mindfulness provide clients I have counselled the ability to temper their anxiety and achieve greater emotional wellbeing. Mindfulness has taught me that being open minded makes the possible in life possible.
